David Webb occupies a very singular niche, in the pantheon of American jewelry designers. And while his bold creations know few equals, I’ve always been especially enamored of the look he defined as Non Jewelry; exemplified by today’s #WearableProzac – the Nail Ring by David Webb Jewels. Designed in 1971, as the lynchpin to his Tool Chest collection; Webb adapted the Common Nail into this Unisex ring of Hammered 18K Gold.
Do NOT confuse this with the Juste Un Clou, designed for @Cartier, in 1977, by Aldo Cipullo – who, prior to his gig with the storied French maison, was designing for Webb. Coincidence..?
