ARTIST PROFILE
ERICA MOLINARI
Erica’s first jewelry collection was created in 2005, after having an illustrious 18-year career as a member of the National and Olympic US Luge Team. Erica competed in the Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada in 1988 and in Albertville, France in 1992. Erica retired from luge, with no idea of what her next steps in life would be.
Erica then took a jewelry class in 22k granulation, which was very intriguing to her. Not one to sit idle, she immersed herself learning all that she could, attending several classes at the 92nd Street Y. She then apprenticed under a seasoned bench jeweler for 6 years, to obtain hands on experience.
Having no formal training in the art of metalsmithing or jewelry design, Erica has created her own distinctive style with her affinity for jewelry, that is deeply entrenched with meaning. One is drawn to Erica’s work not only for its beauty, but for the meaning and symbolism behind each design. She is a mix master of past details and shapes which she combines with creative abandon. Her collections are an extensive mix of pieces, that blend gothic, medieval and Victorian
inspirations. Erica continues to rejuvenate jewelry with a modern take on history and imbues all her pieces with a newly found presence. An edgier take on the classics, it is gutsier, yet still feminine and respects the integrity of her love of the old-world charm.
Erica’s charm collection reflects positive values such as strength, courage, love and life’s lessons, of which she hopes encourages you to honor and treasure your memories! To the wearer of her charms, each individual combination necklace is their story!
We encourage the wearer to add pieces, layer and mix it up!
Today, Erica’s love for working with her hands, furthering her knowledge in all aspects of jewelry fabrication, her passion for all arts, continues to inspire her to succeed!
All of Erica’s original designs from inception to completion are made in her studio, in NYC.
